Hi - I made a baby zine. Hand painted, written, and cut on rice paper, with a mystery message on the inside for you. Made a baby first batch to gauge interest - itโs prioritized for paid supporters, shipping this month. Open call: If youโd like a copy of my first zine, submit your address below!
Any future batches will mail out Feb-Mar. If youโre remotely interested in my work, share your address. Or forward this to your friend who likes to find kinship with strangers or receive analog print objects.
Iโm covering costs as Iโm looking to understand audience engagement will people want the things i make? when it costs them ZERO dollars? does anybody care? Like an experimental research project that doubles as labor of love. (well, love and dark humor. content genre is bubblegrunge)
The cover is crinkly since Iโm an amateur who hasnโt nailed the balance of water, ink, and paper.
These days there are 100000 search tools and my instinct is still to use none, to instead push dumb hands into thinking, feeling, adjusting. Progress is slow as my hands are still learning to think in this new language.
I cut the edges because it wouldnโt fit into a standard size envelope otherwise. Curved so it feels like water, done quick so it accidentally givesโฆmiddle schooler finally allowed to play with the big scissors.
Middle school is not bad inspo? Was just talking to H. about regressing to our tween states. Example: I do not leave the house without Hello Kitty. (S. models above, holding tofu puffs)
Thanks to C. and J. for the reminder to try small and easy before big and hard.
Last call: Submit your address for your copy.
More to come,
V
If youโd like to enjoy more of this, join the inner crew for $5/mon or $50/year. You get monthly emails on creative process, everyday photo diaries, and a yearly handmade card. You help me pay for expenses to sustain and improve the art, the art which hopefully makes you pause, smile, wonder as you hold it in your hand.
Other people - do this! Lucky to have issue 1/20 of the zine. Hit deep and made me cackle, then sigh. Gorgeous writing & design (because it's Vicky, OBVIOUSLY.) and honored to be tofu puff model!!
